Thanks to a period of strong business growth, Stafford based company Connexica have boosted youth employment in the area by employing a total of eight graduates in full-time positions over the past two years, with six of these individuals graduating from Staffordshire University.

Connexica have seen their workforce double in the past 18 months due to increased demand for their business intelligence solution CXAIR, particularly within the health and care sector.

The focus on youth recruitment began when Marketing Management student Ben Edge was offered the opportunity to complete an industrial placement year as a Marketing Executive at Connexica. After Ben returned to complete his studies at Staffordshire University a second marketing student Emma Ordidge took over the role for her own placement year. Having completed successful placements, they have both now returned to Connexica having been offered full-time graduate roles.

Emma Ordidge says of the experience:

“I was thrilled to be able to complete my placement year at Connexica as I didn’t have any real marketing experience other than the knowledge I gained at University, the years placement at Connexica and a part-time role afterwards allowed me to pick up and develop my practical marketing skills and I am over the moon to be able to return to the company in a graduate PR and marketing role now I have completed my degree”

In addition to marketing graduates, Connexica have also utilised the pool of technical graduates available from Staffordshire University, with a Graduate Consultant, Support Engineer and two new Software Developers joining the team.

Connexica have been praised by the Vice-Chancellor of Staffordshire University Michael Gunn:

“We know that good graduate level jobs often come about as a result of a successful placement and this is evidently the case at Connexica. I am delighted that such a placement has been so successful for Connexica and for Ben and Emma.

“Further to learn that Connexica have recently employed so many of our graduates is testament to the work that we do with our students at Staffordshire University. We are always delighted to hear about Staffordshire companies recruiting Staffordshire graduates and to get feedback about how our skilled graduates are actively contributing to the success and growth of businesses in the region.”

Head of Business Development Greg Richards is delighted with the outcome of the latest recruitment strategy:

“Connexica are committed to the recruitment and development of young professionals from the local area wherever possible and are thrilled to have worked with Staffordshire University to recruit a number of talented graduates.

As our business continues to grow, we look forward to extending our partnership with the university and encourage other companies in Staffordshire to work with the university and achieve the same benefits as we have through recruiting motivated and talented graduates.”

This August marks a year since Connexica moved from four managed offices into their own building on the Staffordshire Technology Park in order to accommodate their growing team and the future is looking bright for this flourishing company.
