The main focus from an analytic perspective will be to improve operational efficiency, increasing the speed of report creation and allowing insight to be gained when needed. 2015 will be all about giving the power of data analysis to all levels of staff through interactive user interfaces. Unstructured Data Analysis
Analysing patient feedback will be easier than ever before due to new technologies in analysing unstructured data and free-text fields. Healthcare organisations will be able to index and understand the thoughts and feelings of patients from initial diagnosis to feedback given post-treatment. The IDC state that due to the increased pressure to improve quality and manage costs, 15% of hospitals will create a comprehensive patient profile by 2016 that will allow them to deliver personalized treatment plans.
Ad hoc Analysis
Ad hoc analysis will continue to be a major requirement in 2015. Solutions need to offer users the opportunity to make reports on the fly whilst still offering a selection of pre-canned reports. More than 50% of big data issues will be reduced to routine operational IT by 2018, reducing the need for specialized IT resources to support big data. The potential of ad hoc technology frees up IT resources to further increase operational efficiency.
Interactive reporting will continue to grow in 2015. Users will be able to comment on reports in a social media style interface, allowing ideas to be shared across the organisation in an easy to use monitorable manner. There will also be a notable increase in mobile reporting, as a result of an increased focus on improving the consumer experience, 65% of consumer transactions with healthcare organizations will be mobile by 2018.
